Wombat Crossing Vineyard was awarded the TROPHY for the Best 100% Hunter Valley Red Wine at the 2011 Clearview Hunter Valley Wine Show. And the Trophy for the Best 2010 Chardonnay at the 2011 Hunter Valley Boutique Winemakers Show. Our best year at the shows yet!
Our 2009 Hunter Valley Individual Vineyard Shiraz has been selected by the judges of our regional wine show as the red wine that was the best hunter valley example of a red wine in show. That's the top award we could hope to achieve, and it is awarded across vintages, across varieties, and across the large and small winery entrants to the show. In the ceremony, the international judge Chuck Hayward said " I have the fortune of visiting the Hunter Valley a few times and this visit only reconfirmed to me what a special place this is. The wines of the Hunter Valley have attributes that other wine regions would die for...The Hunter Valley has wines that are unique to the Hunter that cannot be duplicated anywhere else on the planet." In 2010 our Semillon won two gold medals in the single vineyard class in the same show. Given that our Hunter Valley semillons are generally regarded as the best example of Semillon in the world, then .... Our Chardonnay paddock has been recognised as the source of the best Chardonnay in 2010 in the valley, capping a line of gold, silver and bronze medals! Our recent awards include: - Trophy, Clear Image Hunter Valley Wine Show 2011 - 2009 Shiraz |
